01 Overview

👁️ Our Vision
Our objective for this project is to create an app that will increase awareness of library events, activities, and resources while ensuring that this information is accessible to the extremely large and diverse group of users that the library draws in. The information should be presented in a clear and efficient way as current solutions feel overwhelming and dense.

⁉️ The Problem
The seattle public library has a huge amount of resources that people felt overwhelming when they are browsing on the website. They can't efficiently find out the resources they want and they are not aware of other resources including many of the library programs.

02 Research

She stated that programs are hard to discover but would love to participate in more if she could be better informed.

🔎 Secondary Research
From the SPL annual reports and community listening data, we found the data of library use of program participation align with our insights from primary research, which is

There are lots of publics programs in the library
Seattle public library offers such a huge range and amount of public programs. The library users can benefit more from being able to be informed about those programs.

📝 Insights

01. People learned about library resources through word of mouth or by accident
02. The library programs lack widespread visibility even to their core users
03. People are willing to participate library programs if they know about them

👯 Competitive Analysis
In order to have a better sense of what apps are on the market, how well are they served the library users, and what's their functions, I downloaded some of the most popular app and made a competitive analysis for those apps.

04 User Testing

🏃🏻 What we did
We asked 5 participant to test our wireframe. In terms of the process, we assigned them three different tasks and observe how they complete the tasks and what challenges they encountered. The goal here is to discover potential problems & test usability. Also because this is a team project and each team member focus on one part of the app, i will just show the "Reserve books" feature here.

🏗 Iteration

BeforeThere's extra step when you want to select different categories of book, which you need to open filter tap first.

AfterWith scrollable tabs, user can find their preferred style more easily.

BeforeThere's lack of information about availability, location and so on.
